We’ve hit several exciting milestones recently as we move from our Aquarium’s planning process into the construction phase this winter. Here’s a quick summary:
- The Canaveral Port Authority has conditionally approved our site plan. We are also working collaboratively with the Port to design and document a process that will ensure the recent addition of an overpass over our property works successfully for all parties.
- Bowen Aquarium officially has an address! In a few short years, you will be able to step into our new space at 650 George King Boulevard in Port Canaveral, Florida.
- The Canaveral Port Authority Commission has officially approved the updated lease for Bowen Aquarium! The lease was originally included as part of our 2021 Development Agreement with the Port. As the project has progressed, updates were needed to reflect the Aquarium’s financing structure and the Port’s plans for the new overpass, while incorporating important provisions for the project moving forward.
- We have received final approval for our tax-exempt bond financing, another significant step forward for the project.
All these moments are leading us toward the moment we’ve all been waiting for: groundbreaking on December 2. Keep an eye on all of our communications channels to stay in the loop about this big day.
